Nepal Water Supply and Sanitation Project

CREDIT AMOUNT: IDA—$18.28 million

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This credit is for a three-part projectaimed at improving water supply and sanitation. The first project component will establish and operate the Nepal Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Fund Development Board, which will have overall responsibility for the project. The board will allocate public resources for the construction of water supply and sanitation schemes, and will select support organizations and schemes, monitor and evaluate activities, and commission studies to improve delivery of services. The second component will finance improvements of water supply and sanitation services for 550,000 people in 900 rural communities. The third component will finance studies, preparation of a follow-up project and sector monitoring and evaluation.
