CREDIT AMOUNT: IDA-US$79.77 million equivalent
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project is designed to benefit about one million people, mainly from small- and medium-farming households, and will build on the successes of the Irrigation Line of Credit piloted in the western regions under two ongoing Bank-supported irrigation programs. Part of the new funds will be used to rehabilitate, improve, and develop farmer-managed irrigation systems and tubewell schemes to enhance productivity on 59,000 hectares of land. The project will also support the improvement of public irrigation systems for turn-over to farmer-beneficiaries who will take on responsibility for management, operation, and maintenance.
